African Print Mudcloth Pillow – JIYA
This African print pillow features a breathtaking striped pattern. The ombre indigo shibori and white mudcloth combination is soft, subtle, and makes just the right statement. This pillow is even gorgeous and richly colored in person – perfect for the person who wants to ease into a shibori pattern with just the right amount of contrast against the plain white mudcloth.
Shibori is an ancient Japanese dye technique, one of the oldest Indigo dying techniques in Japan.
Shibori is the Japanese word for a variety of ways of embellishing textiles by shaping cloth and securing it before dyeing. The word comes from the verb root shiboru, “to wring, squeeze, press.” … Cloth shaped by these methods is secured in a number of ways, such as binding and knotting.
Please be advised this pillow cover is made to order and may vary slightly in design from photo pictured above. No two fabrics are identical. Due to the handmade nature of this material there may be slight variances and markings. These imperfections contribute to the authenticity of the fabric and are not considered flaws. Rather, they add to the product’s character and charm. Furthermore, as is the nature of this dyeing process, there may be certain spots that are darker or lighter than others giving it that “ombre” look. Again, no two pieces are exactly alike.
