Introducing one of our newest collections, VIVAAN. Vivaan means “full of life” and this breathtaking diamond indigo shibori and white mudcloth combination is certainly full of life. She is gorgeous in person and perfect for the person who wants to ease into a shibori pattern with just the right amount of contrast against the plain white mudcloth.

Shibori An Ancient Japanese Dye Technique. Shibori is known to be one of the oldest Indigo dying techniques in Japan, most popular in the early Edo period when lower class people where forbidden from wearing silk. … There are six major known Shibori techniques; Kanoko, Miura, Kumo, Nui, Arashi and Itajime.

Shibori is the Japanese word for a variety of ways of embellishing textiles by shaping cloth and securing it before dyeing. The word comes from the verb root shiboru, “to wring, squeeze, press.” … Cloth shaped by these methods is secured in a number of ways, such as binding and knotting.

We care about our environment and are passionate about our own contributions to preserving it while also protecting our health when it comes to the chemicals and materials we bring into our homes. We are mindful of the pursuit of global environmental sustainability. We care about eco friendly resources and are committed to providing you with textiles that are not only beautiful and luxurious but are environmentally friendly. We are proud that the cotton used to make our shibori is 100% certified organic cotton with the use of all natural indigo dye. No chemicals are used. Please be advised this pillow cover is made to order and may vary slightly in design from photo pictured above. No two fabrics are identical. Due to the handmade nature of this material there may be slight variances and markings. These imperfections contribute to the authenticity of the fabric and are not considered flaws. Rather, they add to the product’s character and charm. Furthermore, as is the nature of this dyeing process, there may be certain spots that are darker or lighter than others giving it that “ombre” look. Again, no two pieces are exactly alike.

The quality and craftsmanship of our products are at the heart of every package we send out. We take quality control very seriously to ensure that you receive a beautiful item that has been throughly reviewed. Any holes or loose seems have been repaired by hand on a case by case basis so as to not compromise the authenticity of this handmade textile.
